RB: Composer Hans Zimmer retires from ‘superhero business’

March 30, 2016 By edpons

I’m sure it’s easy to get burned out doing this kind of score.  I suspect his ‘retirement’ from them is greatly exaggerated, but maybe not!

One of the composers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Hans Zimmer has told BBC HARDtalk he is retiring from composing music for superhero films. Award-winning composer Mr Zimmer has produced music for over 150 films including the The Lion King, Inception and Interstellar.

NYT: Listening to “Star Wars”

January 2, 2016 By edpons

My favorite film of 1977 was not “Star Wars” but “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” Steven Spielberg’s U.F.O fantasia. Notwithstanding the fact that I was nine years old, I considered “Star Wars” a little childish. Also, the trash-compactor scene scared me.

Repost: TV Review: ‘The Knick’ Season 2

October 16, 2015 By edpons

Reblog: Divine genius does not exist via SALON

October 1, 2015 By edpons

When I am, as it were, completely myself, entirely alone, and of good cheer; say traveling in a carriage, or walking after a good meal, or during the night when I cannot sleep; it is on such occasions that my ideas flow best and most abundantly.
